Animate Girls Festival 2019 for BL Fans

Get your dose of BL at Japan's largest event that focuses content for female fans

Animate Girls Festival, also known as AGF, is Japan’s largest event that focuses content for female fans including anime, manga, otome games, BL, merchandise, voice actors, theater and cosplay. Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, it was held last November 9 and 10, 2019 at Sunshine City, its main venue, as well as other parts of Ikebukuro.

This year, a record-breaking 100,333 visitors joined the festivities around Ikebukuro while 40,438 visitors came to the main venue in Sunshine City, where 127 exhibitors sold merchandise, held events such as meet-and-greets, talk and autograph sessions both in their booths and at the Fountain Plaza located on the first floor of Sunshine City.

Goods maker F.Heart (read as “F dot Heart”) was the first of many booths selling Given merchandise, namely button pins. They also had button pins, acrylic keychains and stands for Kimetsu no Yaiba, Bungo Stray Dogs, Dr.STONE, and Sarazanmai fans.

HOBiGIRLS, a online shopping site for drama CD and games for the female audience, sold event exclusive goods set for BL games Nie no Machi by Zombilica and Paradise by PIL/SLASH. In addition, fans who bought goods worth 1,000 yen or more got a limited edition postcard.


Their Nie no Machi goods lineup included a teru teru bouzu (a small traditional handmade doll made of white paper or cloth usually hung outside the window to bring good weather or prevent rain) acrylic keychain set, a Mio x Hisora AGF2019 set consisting of a tapestry, acrylic stand using new art and a drama CD, acrylic stand sets with small booklets, button pins and drama CDs.

Their Paradise goods lineup also used new art and included acrylic stand sets with small booklets, and button pins.


PRART Anime Store

Printing company PRART’s Anime Store offered a variety of goods from Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu. and Given at the booth, from your common plush keychains, acrylic keychains, figures to hand soaps, lip balms and even shot glasses.

Anime and music production company Aniplex joined this year’s Animate Girls Festival dubbed “Aniplex Girls Party 2019.” Their Given merchandise included button pins, acrylic mascots and plush dolls.

Chugai Mining

Character goods maker Chugai Mining also had Given goods: button pins, acrylic charms that you can link to each other, phonograph record-style coasters, and acrylic stands. Moreover, purchasing merchandise worth 2,000 yen or more will get you a postcard for free (randomly distributed).

COCOLLABO‘s Given merchandise (button pins, pouches, pass cases and acrylic cases) used cute SD versions of the characters that will surely make you want to add them to your collection!




Animate Girls Festival regular KADOKAWA did not sell any goods from BL titles, but they did give away free Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi ~Propose-Hen~ (The World’s Greatest First Love: Proposal Arc) postcards which was a hit and by 11:30 all the postcards had been given away!



Anime and manga character goods maker TAPIOKA prepared a Given goods lineup that will make you squeal from their cuteness.




Boys’ love anime label BLUE LYNX offered fans merchandise using new illustrations for their titles Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi – The Clouds Gather (Twittering Birds Never Fly), Given, and L’étranger de la Plage (The Stranger on the Beach).




Figure maker Gift prepared Given button pins and acrylic keychains using sketches from animation team Lerche for fans.


Boys’ love was not limited to the main venue, as Animate Bangkok‘s booth, which was located at the East Ikebukuro park, sold copies of Dakaretai Otoko 1-i ni Odosarete Imasu. volumes 1 to 3 in Thai language!

They also held a mini exhibit of pages from the Thai version of the manga.
